I found an article on heart disease, which seemed to be the largest thing to kill people. This article is from CQ searcher and describes the fact that about 2/3rds of the country is considered to be overweight and how to prevent a bit of the heart problems. It is also concerned with the lack of doctors suggesting prevention, and patients choosing to have a costly high tech solution in their advanced disease than to prevent it in the first place. Many doctors are very concerned about the incoming wave of cardiac disease as it is going to be with the baby boomers. It also states some of the major reasons for the heart disease. If you want me to summarize it better, I'll do so.

An interrobang is the proper punctuation for a sentence that has both a question mark and explanation mark at the end of the sentence. It is obscure, but still part of the English language.

Complications 1

I do admit that I am finding myself enjoying the genre since it is pretty much the field that I will be going into. Although my preferred reading is in fantasy (surprise surprise!), I find that I need to be reading stuff like this. I did understand most of the terms he was using, and that really helped me with the text. However, I wish that he would have included a glossary for the terms he used (if not for me to test how close I was on the words, then for others to understand more fully what he was speaking about). Reading this book is exposing more of the world that I plan to enter, and upon viewing this glimpse, I realize that even if I become the top physician I will still know little. A quote that expresses how I feel is "The greater the circle of light, the greater the circumference of darkness." Or in other words, the more a person knows, the more they realize that they don't know.

A virgule is a slanted line used to indicate that either word on the different sides of the line can be used, depending on what the situation may be.

TSMGTW Setting goals questions

Purpose: What do I want my readers to think about the subject after reading my evaluation? I want readers to think that cuckoo clocks are indeed complex items with many traits that need to be addressed before evaluation/purchase.
The Beginning: How can I capture readers' attention from the start? Perhaps using a possible performance given by a cuckoo clock will capture the readers' attention.
The Presentation of the Subject: If the subject has a story, how much of it should I tell? Enough to place within the readers a feeling of the novelty of seeing or owning a cuckoo clock.
The Statement of Your Judgment: How can I convince readers to consider my overall judgment seriously even if they disagree with it? One option would be to choose a more serious topic, but a more likely way would be to state my opinion with various facts supporting my opinion.
Your Reasons and Support: How can I present my reasons? Having a paragraph that explains my reasons for a subtopic of the overall paper will break it down.
Your Anticipation of Objections or Alternative Judgments: What objections or alternative judgments should I anticipate? Some people will still insist that only one specific kind of clock is best for everyone. Personally, I believe that there is a specific clock that works best for everyone.
The Ending: Should I include a rhetorical question at the end? For my subject, that is a yes. Size does make a difference.

Art Gallery

(Before I start, I'm letting all know that I'm terrible at short essays)

As we wandered the art gallery, many pieces caught my eye. Although they were all wonderful, "The Kolob Section of Zion Park" by Gary Max Collins is a memory because of the location, style, and color of the piece.
I love this location. It is easily accessible to most, and close to home. While staring at the painting, I remembered places within this area, including a cave. As one is in the bottom of the canyon, they must strain their neck to view the top. Sometimes, after rain, a small pond appears near the entrance of the canyon: muddy, small. Usually it is a warm area. Rains come rarely, but they can have a fantastic show! Waterfalls come from the tops of the canyons and smother the canyon floor. Within the cave people watch the water shoot over the hole. Several artists attempt to capture this area. One would have to paint a 3D replica to have a chance at capturing the area. Alas, as far as I know, this has yet to be done. My next closest thing to it is Google Earth.
All artists have their own take on the world about them. Some attempt to capture their world as it is, and others as they see it. Collins did an excellent job at his attempt to catch the beauty of the real thing. In his attempt, Collins didn't do anything to try to distort the image or outline anything specific, he only attempted to catch what was already there. Upon viewing other artists, I found their styles distracting: heavily defined lines, a network of once thin lines made thick. A clean painting is the best painting.
Color in a painting reveals most every aspect. In Collins' painting, it is the bold rust against the sky. A contrast that is hard to get anywhere else. He chose to paint it while it was bright outside, so he must have been in an excellent mood. Greens lightly speckle the hillside, thus showing life within a scarce area. Many believe that the beauty he paints only exists in one's mind, but only to be cut short when they behold. Rare combo indeed, yet it was captured on canvas.
I still believe that Gary Max Collins painting, "The Kolob Section of Zion Park" to be a beautiful memory from his choice in location, style, and color.

A Twixy question

I tried to find out some other information on Twix, but the internet isn't my friend tonight. So what I could find out was that Twix has a pretty good sized ingredient list. I would type it, but I'm lazy and will copy and past for now. The ingredients are:

Dashes

Dashes have several uses in English. When used, they can replace commas, semicolons, parentheses, or a few other items. Sometimes, they are used because there is a bit bigger of an explanation than what one would use commas for.
The BMRD- the big mother rubber duck entered into a French art contest- is bigger than an elephant.

Maintaining Focus

Focus, in writing, is basically staying on course and greatly limiting the amount of extra material within a paper. Basically, focus = thesis. As a writer, you will wish to mention only the things in your paper that will be mentioned in your thesis. If a subject is taken out of your paper, that subject needs to be removed from the thesis. Also, if a subject is added to your paper, then it needs to be added to your thesis. Remember, one can always edit their thesis.
To maintain focus while writing, the writer can set their own deadlines for each step of their paper. An example of this is to have all of your research gathered one day, perhaps a few days later be able to summarize what is in each source, a few days later finish the rough draft, and finally, have the final due at least two days before it is due. Individuals can prevent procrastination and frustration by following a similar deadline schedule.

Elements of Gaians

Gaians, or users of gaiaonline, are usually people who are in the college years, and younger teens. The Gaians can create avatars with which they interact with their fellow Gaians.

Profiles are used by Gaians to get a better idea of the person's personality behind the avatar. Most Gaians do use profiles. An almost infinate number of profiles are available, and even those are very customizable.

Gaians have a MMORPG available for them to play on the website. Many kill a lot of time here and are admired on the main site for their accomplishments within the game. In the game they battle animated objects, the animated, with rings that give them "super powers". The rings can be taken off and switched with new ones they encounter in the game.

Phrasal verbs

Phrasal verbs are verbs that have their meaning changed just by the addition of a preposition or adverb. The verb "cut" can easily be defined as a separation of an object (i.e. marshmallow, group).
However, when we say "cut in" we can be saying interrupt, turning on a device, or even when a car slips right in front of another vehicle causing a disruption in the flow of traffic.

If I were to change my ethnographic essay (not saying that I will or not), what are some suggestions for the change?

This is a website where people go for more than a hang out and chat website, but it has its RPG for its users. The new users do speak and act much differently than the rest of the group.
Questions that I already have formulated when I interview someone on the site:
1. How much time do you spend on MMORPG's?
2. Why do you play RPG's?
3. What is the benefits of this?
4. What are the people like?
5. Is spending time playing these games a waste of time or not? Why?
6. How would you describe the site?
7. Why do you use this site as opposed to others?
8. What do you do in real life?
9. Do you have more friends online or in real life?
10. How many people on the site do you know in real life?
11. What is the game like?
12. How do they see each other?

The picture I have included is an example of the type of avatars they use. There is almost an infinite number of different avatars the players can make.

Colons (not from your intestines)

Punctuation colons, quite different from the colon found on the end of your intestines, is used when giving lists, quotes, or delivering appositives. It has been said that the colon is a promise, and whatever comes after the colon is the delivering of the promise. I sometimes have a problem with colons since I can't always decide to use a colon, or just commas. Colons should never separate verbs from their objects as doing this will cause the reader much confusion. A nice little web page for several examples of colons can be found on the picture of the colon.

Explain Exclamation Marks

It is a punctuation mark at the end of a sentence to show great feeling. It should never be used in formal writing, and should never be followed by another exclamation mark. Great Scott! This post is almost due! link is here!

“Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”- Madonna- I probably wouldn't have encountered this song if I had never had the history teacher I did in high school. Every morning that I would walk into his classroom for the first part of the semester he would be playing the same songs almost every day. Somehow, almost every morning, I would walk in during "Don't Cry For Me Argentina", thus giving him a pretty good idea of when I would walk in. As I would step into the room and smell a bit of the wood glue, from all the models he made, I would hear this song. He would share with me some stories about the planes he made models of. Often times he would tell of the intense dog fights of his crimson bi-decker and tri-decker model planes that the Red Baron flew or the account of anything else he had made.

“Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”- Madonna- I probably wouldn't have encountered this song if I had never had the history teacher I did in high school. Somehow, almost every morning, I would walk in during "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" most every morning, so he had a pretty good idea of when I would walk in.
I first fell in love with this song from one of its quick build to a longer crash when Madonna isn't singing; the crash was such that I could feel echoing through my stomach as if someone was rolling a large amount of rocks off a cliff into my stomach. Few songs can capture my senses like this one: I was almost running through a field with a few trees, the ground would change in elevation and allow the trees to glide across the meadow almost as if they were skating and interpreting the waves sifting sand in my stomach. The year that I didn't have him as a teacher didn't keep me from visiting him. Just stepping into the room and smelling a bit of the wood glue from all the models he made would bring me back to this song. Once in a while, as I would sit there and do some homework, he would share with me some stories about the planes he made models of. He would always have a bit of candy in his desk, and gave me a piece whenever he would tell of the intense dog fights of his bi-decker and tri-decker model planes that the Red Baron flew, the total destruction of the atom bombs the Enola Gay dropped, a bit from the USS Constitution, or anything else he had made. Eventually, I adopted him as a kind-of grandpa without telling him.
